England Beat India by 9 runs yesterday it was a nail biting moment which saw many records being made.

England won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 228 runs. The Indian team started off well, but collapsed like a pack of cards in the crucial last few overs, to finally being bowled out for 219 in 48.4 overs.

India had beaten England in earlier matches of the world cup but in Final, they lost the match it was really a heart breaking moment for all the fans.

Openers Punam Raut (86) and Harmanpreet Kaur’s (51) steady half centuries had set a platform for a high score. But once they departed, it was far from a smooth ride, as England’s consistent strikes turned it into a cliff-hanger match. Veda Krishnamurthy (35 off 34 balls), Sushma Verma’s (0) and Jhulan Goswami (0) were dismissed in a space of nine balls.

Earlier, a disciplined bowling performance from India restricted England to 228/7 in 50 overs. After a steady start, England lost wickets at regular intervals. However, Sarah Taylor (45) and Natalie Sciver (51) steadied the England in the middle overs. Jhulan Goswami, with two wickets in an over, halted England’s momentum. For India, Goswami finished with the figure of 3/23 in 10 overs. For England, Natalie Sciver scored the highest.

The Indian Team has performed well in the whole tournament but the final match made them lose the full tournament. Many big celebrities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi cheered up the team and wished them well for their career.  This is the 2nd time when Indian Women Cricket team has been reached to the World cup. First time when the team reached the Final they were beaten by Australia and this time England.
