Aloe Vera juice comes from the leaves of the aloe Vera plant. This juice has got many medicinal values, which are helpful in the natural treatment of many ailments like, swelling of joints, body pains, indigestion etc.

This plant is rightly called the plant of immortality, because of its innumerous medicinal values. If you research the literature in patents, you will find the main constituents of the aloe vera leaves are Cell Gel, Aloe Vera Juice (including aloin) And the Cortex which is the outer hard green part.

The aloin is yellowish liquid part of the leaf, which is very bitter in taste and is probably toxic as reported in few patents. In the industrial process, this aloin is removed by the treatment of activated carbon and subsequent filtrations. How we remove aloin in our home process, we will see in the late.

Let’s start right away….

We have to first arrange the fresh leaves of the plant. You can grow these easily in your kitchen garden by planting on the ground or in the pots. You don’t have to buy these from the stores.  Before proceeding, we need to wash the leaves with plenty of plain water because they are spoiled with soil and dirt.

For our DIY process at home, we have to remove the aloin by keeping these leaves in a vertical position for some time which is usually 3-4 hrs, which is good enough for the removal of the yellow liquid.

Now as you can see these leaves aside for about 3 hours and much quantity of alloin is separated from the leaves.

Next is the removal of the cortex or rind which is the most difficult part in the process of taking out the juice from the leaves. For this you only need one tool that is easily available in one’s home, that is Potato peeler. If you are a right handed and the peeler in the right hand and vice versa for left handed people. There are small thorns on the edges of the leaf. Which are called spines, gently peel off these spines with the peeler as otherwise, these can cause hand injuries.

Gently remove the rind with the help of a peeler by holding the leave. Carefully collect all the gel and take it to a mixer grinder, for the milling of the gel so as you can see the gel is now converted to flowable juice.

You can add a teaspoon of honey to your glass of juice or this quantity can be varied as per once taste and preference. Now, homemade natural and healthy juice is ready for consumption, not to mention it is without preservatives, and above all farm fresh.
